Day 1: Flight to GuatemalaUpon arrival at the Guatemala airport, meet and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Guatemala - AntiguaAfter breakfast, transfer to Antigua. In Antigua seems to have stopped the time, walking through its streets is to go back to the time of Spanish colonization. There is no old town, all of it is old and immutable over time; broad streets of unequal cobblestones, solid houses with one floor of baroque facades, large windows protected by grilles flooded with flowers and presiding over its pedestal, the Agua volcano. Spectacular and majestic: protecting and frightening the city at the same time.
Day 3: AntiguaFree day to visit the city.
Day 4: Antigua - Pacaya - Antigua VolcanoFirst thing we went to the Pacaya National Park, one of the three active volcanoes in Guatemala. From the foot of the volcano begins the ascent that lasts three hours, although there is also the possibility of climbing on horseback. During the whole trip we enjoyed the landscape that surrounds us, presided over by the Agua volcano, which is right in front of us. In the afternoon we return to Antigua.
Day 5: Antigua - Atitlán LakeAtitlán, the Guatemalan highlands. And possibly the area where the tradition is more rooted. Located at 1500m above sea level, it has a length of 18 km. Its main peculiarity are the three volcanoes that escort it: the Atitlán, the Tolimán and the San Pedro. From any point you look at, the views are magnificent; the green of the high mountains of the Guatemalan highlands pours its vegetation to the lake and the mid-afternoon mists surround the volcanoes forming fantasy and nostalgic landscapes. After a boat tour, we stayed in Panajachel, hotel with magnificent views from where we can perform activities such as horseback riding or high mountain diving on the lake.
Day 6: Atitlán - Chichicastenango - Guatemala cityIn Chichicastenango, on Thursdays and Sundays, the largest market in Central America is celebrated. Miles away we can already see buses full of people and goods, people on foot with big bundles on their heads, women with packages and children carrying their backs ... all on the way to the market. Throughout the morning we wander unhurriedly by him, admiring, tasting, smelling ... And also contemplating the Mayan ceremonies that are celebrated in front of the Catholic churches. We eat in their typical stalls before leaving for Guatemala. Arrival and rest of the day to see the city.
Day 7: Guatemala - Flores - TikalAfter breakfast, transfer to the airport to take the domestic flight to Flores Island and visit the city. We continue on our way to Tikal. Entrance to the park and check-in at the hotel. We visited the park of Tikal, one of the most emblematic of the Mayan civilization. Not only for the ruins but for being located in the middle of the jungle and being a reference for the native fauna of this habitat. Visit to the park with a private guide.
Day 8: Tikal - Flores - GautemalaWe continue enjoying Tikal. At mid-afternoon, transfer to Guatemala airport to take the flight black.
Day 9: ArrivalArrival to the origin city.
One of the friendliest in central America; full of color and smoky volcanoes, lakes and colorful markets.
