Java volcanoes - trip of in Indonesia

Temples and volcanoes

The Bromo and the Kawah Ijen are considered two of the most beautiful volcanoes in the world. Located to the south of the island of Java, few natural spectacles are as recommendable as to see dawn from the summits of Bromo. For its part, the Kawah Ijen, marvels us with flames of intense cobalt blue breaking through narrow cracks, illuminating the interior of the volcano and turning the caldera into an authentic aurora borealis known as "blue fire".

Itinerario

Day 1: Flight to Jakarta
Overnight on board.

Day 2: Jakarta/Pangakalan Bun - Surabaya – Bromo
Upon arrival at the Jakarta airport, flight to Surabaya, to the south of the Java island. Upon arrival, assistance at the airport and transfer overland (approx 5h) to the Bromo volcano. Rest of the afternoon free.

Day 3: Bromo - Ketapan (Kawah Ijen)
At 04:00 in the morning we started the ascent in an off-road vehicle to the 2,770 meter Penanjakan volcano crossing the large crater. It is essential to leave at this time of the morning to see sunrise at the top. After admiring the spectacle of sunrise, we descend again to the crater of Mount Bromo to ascend this time on the backs of some horses on the Route of Heaven. From the top you can see the active volcano whose fumaroles regularly expel gases outside. Back to the hotel. At 08:00 after breakfast we move to Ketapan located near the Kawah Ijen volcano by road. This runs among colorful plantations of coffee, rubber, cotton, clove, pepper. This journey can last between 6 and 8 hours depending on the traffic density. Arrival at the hotel and accommodation.

Day 4: Ketapan - Kawah Ijen - Bali
Transfer ( aprox 1h) to the volcano base from where we start the walk to the ring of the Kawah Ijen volcano (between 60 - 90 minutes). This volcano is one of the most spectacular craters on the planet, not only because of its landscapes reminiscent of the lunar surface and its large turquoise lake, but also because of the human factor. Almost every day 300 men go inside the crater to extract sulfur from inside in heavy baskets that often reach 90 kg in weight. We have the opportunity to see how the sulfur that comes directly from the interior of the earth's crust in the form of gas crystallizes in rocks when it comes into contact with the outside. All this together with the silence that reigns inside the volcano, makes it one of the most beautiful in Indonesia. At noon we headed back to Ketapang to take the ferry to Gilimanuk. Arrival in Bali and transfer to the hotel.

Day 5: Denpasar
Free day until time to transfer to airport to take the flight back.

Day 6: Arrival.

Info - Paises

Indonesia is made up for more than 17,000 islands. Some of them as far away in distance as they are as diverse from each other. The jungles of Borneo have little in common with the tribes of the Balliem valley in Papua.
